A Study on the Socio-demographic Characteristics between F. P. Practice Group and None Practicing Group of Eligible women in an Urban Area

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose of ascertaining the current concept on the socio-demographic characteristic$ between family planning practice group and none practicing group of the Korean women residing in urban area a series of survey has been conducted. The authors conducted a series of survey toward 625 "eligible" women (currently family planning practice group: 208, none family planning practicing group: 417) of reproductive women aging from 20 to 39, visitors in Kyung Hee Medical Center and Dongdaemoon ku Health Center, Seoul City.
The results are as follows,
1) The sex ratio of the new born was 115.9 (currently family planning practice group is 285.71 and none practiceing group is 91. 2). The population sex ratio was 104.4 (112. 5 and 99.4). 2) The mean of family size is 3. 97 persons (4. 56 & 3.67).
3. Employment of oral pill was most freqnent, 49.5% followed by traditional method(30. 0%) and I. U. D. (16. 4%) in the currently practicing group. As for the frequency of oral pill 62. 5%, 58. 2% and 52. 0% of 20~24 age group, 25~29 age group and 30~34 age group respectively were found to be practicing this mode of family planning.
In contrast to those of 35~ 9 age group who preferred the traditional method (64. 5%). Educational level had no effective difference.
4. Among the none practicing group 53. 5% recommended oral pill in family planning followed by traditional method (10.6%), permanent sterilization (9.6%) and I. U. P. (6.2,x).
5) Number of living children of the currently family planning practice group was, on the average, 2.52 (son: 1.49 and daughter: 1. 03) and none practicing group, 1.65 (0.86 and 0.79).
6) The respondents of the currently family planning practice group wished to have more children by 0. 35 (son: 0. 21 and daughter: 0. 14) and none practicing group, by 0.86 mean number (0.55 and 0.31).
